pink dualism
i found out metaphysics is complicated but thought-provoking. Consequently it inspired me to create a piece that combines Chinese traditional metaphysics with a girly vibe environment to entail an opposite aesthetic that is religious yet relaxing. I included Yin Yang, Chinese zodiac, five elements and meditation in this piece.
I focused on play with resin, LEDs and video mapping. As part of this installation, there was a wall with glowing orbs that looked like tiny projections inside luminous pearls. I was inspired by traditional Chinese shadow play, and I integrated the element of light, shadow and projection into this project.

white and black shadow box to express my understanding of Yin and Yang. There are only 2 elements in the shadow box, one is lights the other one is a tiny fruit tree. The fruit tree represents life and nurture, together with the white box with warm gradient background and uv lights they represent yang. Yang means day, sun, heat, lights. In the box of Yin I decided to use black shadow box and several small led lights; Yin means land, moon, night, cold and dark. Yin and Yang are opposite but at the same time they are mutually reinforcing.

when people touched the orbs, they would light up and people could see the silhouette of the object I installed within the orb. I used a small track to make the orb feel more interactive. It would light up if people just touch the orbs with a little pressure.
